EYE SHADOW! need Sexy...not secretary =P?

I have dark brown hair and brown eyes and am planning to wear a deep purple button up dress shirt/black dress pant combo to a wedding reception. I figure the make up will determine whether or not I come across as a vixen or looking like a secretary (or even worse...BARNEY!!...kidding...its a darker purple lol) My boggle is the eye make up.....I don't want to match it with the same color as the shirt and as much as I love the dark smokey look on people it never seems to look good on me ..(doesn't enhance my eyes at all and creases look bad) If you could suggest some other colors that I would be able to contrast it with that would be great.... I'm thinking of going with L'OREAL's Wear Infinite (glistening sea) which is like a metallic looking mint green with black eye liner on top lid (like cats eye) and black mascara. I have also thought perhaps a gold color but I like my eyes to pop and gold doesn't seem to contrast well on my tanned skin.

Here is an awesome tip ... look at you eyes in the mirror really close up. You will see that under the brown you have another hue in your eye color, a secondary color. Most likely gold or green for brown eyes. Match this color with your eyes shadow for a really sexy eye that pops.

One thing that looks really good for green for example, is to line you upper and lower lids with a deep emerald green (thin) and then do a camel/tan/light coca color on your lid (shimmery) and then a buff up to your brow line. Use black eye liner on top of your lower lid and black mascara. You might really be impressed when you see it all together.

Well one thing you're doin right is you're not matching your outfit with your eye makeup. good :)

you and I have the same colored features, so what i do is i use all of Loreal's HIP Pigment Intensity products found at walgreens. you can check out the website for more info hipcolor.com

Use a gold shadow across your hole lid, then a black shadow on your crease- liquid line your top eyelash line and MASCARA yourself crazy. put the gold shadow in the corners of your eyes and the bone right below your brow. it looks HOT! ;).

Do the cat eye one accept i dont think u r wearing anything green. But green looks good with purple so do the cat eye.

Your idea for eyeshadow sounds good, but to make it set so that it doesn't wear off, cover your eyelid with a layer of cream-colored eyepencil (a big fat soft one will do the trick) before applying the eyeshadow. Eyeshadow needn't match clothes, so you got it right. You could wear a reddish-pink lipstick with those colors, but matte because it's fashionable and it won't draw as much attention to your lips as shiny lipgloss. Either eyes or lips have to be the focus.
